Renato Meneghetti

1953–present

Painting

Painting has accompanied Meneghetti since 1953, when as a child he painted on canvases cut from bed sheets, with colours obtained by pounding earth and leaves. In the 1960s he experimented with monotypes, washed collages and frescoes on panel; from 1968 the Fagocitatrici cycle, introduced by Lucio Fontana, denounced subservience to power and money. In 1979 the first canvases emulsified with radiographic plates opened the path that would become the centre of his entire work.
